“People in France have a phrase: “Spirit of the Stairway.” In French: esprit d’Escalier. It means that moment when you find the answer but it’s too late. So you’re at a party and someone insults you. You have to say something. So, under pressure, with everybody watching, you say something lame. But the moment you leave the party…As you start down the stairway, then - magic. You come up with the perfect thing you should’ve said. The perfect crippling put down. That’s the Spirit of the Stairway. The trouble is, even the French don’t have a phrase for the stupid things you actually do say under pressure. Those stupid, desperate things you actually think or do.” —Chuck Palahniuk (Haunted)

“The surface is everything but I could never do that
Someone would see through that
And this is our last time
We’ll be friends again
I’ll get over you, you’ll wonder who I am
And there’s this burning
Just like there’s always been
I’ve never been so alone alone
And I’ve, and I’ve never been so alive
So alive
I go home to the coast
It starts to rain I paddle out on the water
Alone
Taste the salt and taste the pain
I’m not thinking of you again
Summer dies and swells rise
The sun goes down in my eyes
See this rolling wave
Darkly coming to take me
Home
And I’ve never been so alone
And I’ve never been so alive”

Or stay, and let the day just fade away
In wild dedication, take the moment of hope
And let it run, and never look back at all the damage we have done now
To each other…

And I’ve just fallen back to earth
Still you know I’ll try again
Cause I believe that we are lucky
We are golden we’re stolen manners
In the days when we were one

“Maybe it’s more like you said before, all of us being cracked open, like, each of us starts out as a watertight vessel, and these things happen, these people leave us, or don’t love us, or don’t get us, or we don’t get them, and we lose and fail and hurt one another. And the vessel starts to crack open in places, and I mean, yeah, once the vessel cracks open, the end becomes inevitable, once it starts to rain inside the Osprey, it will never be remodeled, but there is all this time between when the cracks start to open up and when we finally fall apart, and it’s only in that time that we can see one another, because we see out of ourselves through our cracks, and into others through theirs. When did we see each other face to face? Not until you saw into my cracks, and I saw into yours. Before that, we were just looking at ideas of each other, like looking at your window shade, but never seeing inside. But once the vessel cracks, the light can get in. The light can get out.” —~ John Green (via epicjohngreenquotes)

I Can Feel A Hot One (Cover) Pete Duthie

I Can Feel A Hot One (Cover) - Pete Duthie

I got bored tonight and started playing guitar and thought I’d record a quick cover of one of my favourite Manchester Orchestra songs. It’s stripped down, just guitar and vocal.

Hope I’ve done it a little justice… if you like it, please reblog.

i haven’t done a text/life post in so long, since i have my personal blog, so i figured i’d do one.

so as of today i’m going down to Florida for a while to visit my family. when i’m off from school in March i’m going down and getting tan. which seeing as i’m freezing right now, the warm weather seems pretty good. i can’t wait to get away for a while and i’ll be gone for about a week and a half so hopefully there will be lots of sun! :) plus i get to see my brother and grandmother who i haven’t seen in a very long time so i’m excited!

also i get to see Tay tomorrow! :)) i haven’t seen her in sooooo long and i miss my little best friend! so we will be hanging out and catching up all day tomorrow :) i can’t wait!

oh! and Grace Potter is coming to Providence! :)) i will definetly be there!

many many good things have been happening too, and hopefully they continue!
